To be honest, they often irritate me to no end! Though, for this story, it worked. I love how she’s not perfect and rarely do I like characters-especially leads-who’re so…ingenious. The photographer the girl who lost her father the girl who’s so blindingly naïve and eager to please people the girl who wants to be popular. How she alternated between the accident and Jane’s road to recovery added to both said mystery and suspense, bringing the reader a step forward with each following paragraph and making it a fast-paced thriller. Furthermore, the way Jaffe wrote this made the story better. The mystery and suspense that kept me turning page after page until I reached the end of the book was plenty delightful. What I enjoyed from reading this book was the idea for it-the plot line. Let’s start with the positives first, shall we? There are a great number of things that I adore in this book but there’s also a bunch of other things that I don’t. However, it isn’t perfect and it’s barely even close to it. Rosebush is my first ever Michele Jaffe book and I love, love, love it. + 4 additional CDs previously released by Deutsche Grammophon. The CDs in the box are packed in individual sleeves with Steve McCurry's evocative portrait photos from the existing series, so the "feel" of the collection is much the same as the individual releases.ĥ6 audio CDs All 28 existing volumes from our Bach Cantatas series "One of the most ambitious musical projects of all time" - Gramophoneįor the first time on one label, the complete live recordings from the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage in an elegant, limited edition box set. If you want to know more about the book, just go and continue to read. At some point, I thought there would be Nora Roberts in the witness sequel but she does not do that, she only does trilogies. This is one of those books that will keep you flipping the page even if you are aware of how late it is and how much time has passed. It is a book that will leave you wanting more, every word of it is enjoyable to read. I can’t seem to get over the logical narration of the story. The relationship between Abigail and Brooks plays a significant role in this book, how she assists the legal system, how she learns to accept love and family into her life, and how she finally offers herself an opportunity for a true future after 12 years. The Witness by Nora Roberts tells the tale of a lady fighting for survival while alternating between tense and chaotic scenes and peaceful ones. Although Abigail and Brooks’ relationship is frequently the center of attention. Kudos to the superb story flow! I genuinely like the direction this story took us. Their relationship was so beautifully written, humorous at times and smile inducing while tugging hard at your heart. The story of Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell is a realistic paced tale of two high school students, Eleanor and Park, who find everything in one another on a loud school bus. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell is funny, sad, shocking and true – an exquisite nostalgia trip for anyone who has never forgotten their first love.īook Review: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you’re 16, and you have nothing and everything to lose. Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall in love. Quiet, careful and – in Eleanor’s eyes – impossibly cool, Park’s worked out that flying under the radar is the best way to get by. Then she takes the seat on the bus next to Park. All mismatched clothes, mad red hair and chaotic home life, she couldn’t stick out more if she tried. Theme: Gender Expression, the Importance of Identityīook Summary: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow RowellĮleanor is the new girl in town, and she’s never felt more alone. However, how does he warn her that locating family cause oftentimes cause more misery and pain than most people expect so be careful what you wish for.Īs Beau tracks down Sabine's family, attempts are being made on her life. When Beau meets Sabine for the first time she is not what he expected and he certainly didn't want to entertain the lustful thoughts he has been thinking. So, with the help of her friend, Raissa in New Orleans, she locates a private detective, Beau Velenueve, who specializes in missing persons. She has cancer and is desperate for a treatment. In this second book in the Ghost-in-Law series, we find ourselves embroiled in Maryse's bff, Sabine's story to try to locate her long lost family to see if she can get a bone marrow transplant. However, as much as I enjoyed "Mischief in Mudbug," it was not up to the author's normal creative standards. First and foremost let me say that I am a huge fan of Jana Deleon. But when his father’s body turns up right near home, proving that the man never ran off at all, he agrees to go home for the memorial service to help his mother get some closure. He’s got a great job that means he doesn’t ever have to stay anywhere for longer than six months, and he likes it that way. In fact, he’s made a habit of not sticking around. In that book, we met Shane Harcourt and his sincerely screwed-up mother. Laura C’s review of Looking for Trouble (Girls’ Night Out, Book 1)by Victoria DahlĬontemporary Romance published by HQN 29 Jul 14ĭahl delivers her trademark mix of hot sex and fun, small-town characters in this, the first of her “Girls Night Out” series.Īlthough Dahl’s website lists this as the first of her “Girls’ Night Out” series (after her novella, Fanning the Flames), the main characters are closely related to 2013’s Too Hot To Handle, the second in the “Jackson, Wyoming” series. Ultimately, she provokes us to think about the truths of American history-about who gets to tell them, and the cost of setting the record straight. She introduces us to Black and multiracial characters who are experiencing the universal confusions of lust and love, and getting walloped by grief-all while exploring how history haunts us, personally and collectively. With The Office of Historical Corrections, Evans zooms in on particular moments and relationships in her characters' lives in a way that allows them to speak to larger issues of race, culture, and history. The award-winning author of Before You Suffocate Your Own Fool Self brings her signature voice and insight to the subjects of race, grief, apology, and American history.ĭanielle Evans is widely acclaimed for her blisteringly smart voice and x-ray insights into complex human relationships. Just with waaaaaaay less Jeeeeeesus and religion, which was sadly not an optional activity in East Bumblefuck, TN, where I was raised.Īnd I *tolerated* all of the " licking" puns, because Holy Mother of God, they were *EVERYWHERE*. I loved how the town itself really came to life and leapt off the page, reminding me a lot of my own small-town, rural upbringing. I loved how the older parental figures imparted their own fucked-up stories of past romantic missteps on their younger counterparts. I loved Ava and Paul and the entire odd-ball cast of Licking Thicket yokels, who were endearing from the first few chapters. They were insanely cute together, without it feeling forced or trying too hard. I loved both Brooks and Mal, how their chemistry was immediate, but the romance was full-on slow burn. Yes, it was a complete over-the-top RomCom, with a lot of super-sappy, overly-sweet, wacky-assed situations however, it somehow all just worked - without making me crazy or causing me to eye-roll my ass into another dimension. Wow, I actually enjoyed this story way more than I'd thought I would. |
